Association Rules

All Clubs Must Abide By These Rules Drawn Up To Protect The Toyakwai Karate Association (T.K.A)

All members must hold a valid T.K.A. License

All Clubs must receive a copy of these rules

Every member must show the proper respect to his instructor and association instructors, when in the dojo or T.K.A. courses, events. The instructor must conduct his club in a responsible manner.

The T.K.A. did agree in 1981 that all instructors of clubs of Dan Grade status are to be allowed to grade to first KYU an unheard of practice at that time, this would mean the instructor would have incentive and means to build up his club membership and encourage him to put more effort into it for his own benefit.

The Dan grading fees shall remain with the Association.

Instructors working for the T.K.A. on courses etc shall be entitled to fixed payment of expenses   according to grade.

Japanese marks or chops, these can only be used by Yondan and above, and must be deposited with the association for recognition purposes, copy of such chop.

Anyone who does not conduct themselves in a manner befitting Karate and by their actions may bring Karate and T.K.A. into disrepute will be judged by the executive committee and can be dismissed from the association.

Club re'affiliations are due before 1st January each year at the price fixed by the  association, clubs joining after or later in the year may be asked to pay less according to how late in the year, they join the re'affiliations after 1st January are not covered by the club insurance during the lapse of time until such time as we receive it.

Dan grading juniors, according to the rules of the governing body a junior may not receive above Nidan grade. No person may take Sandan grade until the age of 18 years. GAB. rules all persons must serve the correct amount of time between grades to shodan approx 3 years. From Shodan to Nidan 2 Years. From Nidan To Sandan 3 years and so on.

The T.K.A. promise to carry the correct level of insurance laid down by the governing body. All clubs receive a form stated procedure and benefits of insurance.

Responsibilities of clubs within the T.K.A. No club or instructor may organize or help to organize any course or competition outside the T.K.A. All clubs have the right to enter any competition or course inside or outside the T.K.A. and to run own club competition or course providing its in his own Dojo, with his own member only.

Conduct of T.K.A. officials, no official of the T.K.A. may collect any names or addresses to T.K.A. clubs or instructors, only the secretary for security reasons. Official shall mean course instructor even for one day, referees coach, squad coaches or any manner of being put in a responsible position. Anyone found to disregard this rule will be taken off the post and never used again to teach for the Association.  Any outside club instructor official enquiries to you concerning T.K.A. you should, if the secretary is in attendance send the person to him, if not send the enquiry to the secretary at his address.

The T.K.A. promises to keep down the cost of licenses, courses and competitions etc as far as it can and for as long as it can. There will be increases from time to time as cost go up for printing insurance stamps hire of hall etc.

Complaints any concerning Association costs, officials instructors etc will be treated by the secretary in the strictest confidence and the matter brought to a conclusion.

Competitions T.K.A. shall be run on association rules (not the governing body rules) simple and effective, and every club shall be sent a copy of the rules so instructors know in advance what to expect, any charges will be sent to you in advance. Any referee studying for governing body advancement may still do so and may have a copy of the governing body rules to study, and may attend their events but only with the approval of the T.K.A. who will send to him the dates of such courses. All governing body courses are for Sandan and above. All Dan grades will be asked to referee our events, your help is needed and the experience gained will help you become a better referee.

Instructors are bound by the code of karate to let their members advance. to do that they must not hold back dates, times of courses competitions etc, it is for them to decide if they wish to get better at what they are doing, to hold them back is harming them. The Association will also invite high instructors to teach on our courses to give them experience.
